Ingredients
  

  • 6-8 vanilla beans
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup or maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup vodka or rum

Instructions
 

  • Cut the vanilla beans in half lengthwise and scrape the seeds into a small saucepan.
  • Add the water, corn syrup (or maple syrup), and vodka (or rum) to the saucepan with the vanilla seeds.
  • Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally until it thickens slightly (about 10 minutes).
  • Let the mixture cool, then pour it into a clean jar.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 6 months.
