Description
A creamy, vibrant, and energizing drink made with high-quality matcha green tea powder, milk, and a touch of sweetness. Perfect for a morning boost or an afternoon pick-me-up.
Ingredients
1 tsp (2-3g) high-quality matcha green tea powder
2 tbsp (30ml) hot water (about 175°F/80°C, not boiling)
1 cup (240ml) milk (dairy or plant-based like almond, oat, or soy)
1–2 tsp honey, maple syrup, or sugar (optional, for sweetness)
Ice cubes (optional, for an iced latte)
Instructions
Sift the matcha: Sift the matcha powder into a bowl to remove any clumps.
Whisk the matcha: Add the hot water to the matcha powder. Using a bamboo whisk (or a small regular whisk), whisk vigorously in a “W” or “M” motion until the matcha is fully dissolved and frothy.
Heat the milk: Warm the milk in a saucepan or microwave until hot but not boiling. For an iced latte, skip this step and use cold milk.
Combine: Pour the matcha mixture into a mug. Add the warm milk (or cold milk for iced) and stir gently. Sweeten with honey, maple syrup, or sugar if desired.
Serve: Enjoy hot or pour over ice for an iced latte.
Notes
Matcha quality: Use ceremonial-grade matcha for the best flavor and vibrant green color.
Whisking: If you don’t have a bamboo whisk, a small regular whisk or even a milk frother can work.
Customization: Adjust the sweetness and milk ratio to your preference.
